The term 'anchor text' is mentioned often when it comes to Search Engine
Optimisation as it is a fundamental part of the process, being one of
the first realised key attributes in order to get high search engine
rankings. It is called anchor text after the anchor tag used in HTML
coding to display a link.
When linking to a website or web page, many people do so by having
something similar to:
visit a great article about anchor text from specialists Webtacular"
Although this link is clear and helpful,
this is not the best linking technique when it comes to Search Engine
Optimisation.
A better link would have descriptive text describing the website or
web page it is linking to. Search engines note this as a more
relevant link, which gives it more link 'weight',
consequently helping your search engine rankings. To use the above
example again, here is how it would be laid out to benefit Search
Engine Optimisation:
"Read
more about anchor text from specialists Webtacular"
There you have it. Its very simple, but its important to build
this way of linking when it comes to internal linking as
well from with external links. This is also the same when writing
blogs, articles and any other opportunity that may result in an
backlink to your website!
